David Allen – The Power of I AM – Part 22

David Allen - The Power of I AM

“I AM the Lord, and there is no God beside me,” declares my consciousness to be the one and only Lord and beside my consciousness there is no God. “Be still and know that I AM God,” means that I should still the mind and know that consciousness is God, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” “I AM the Lord: that is my name.” Now that you have discovered your I AM, your consciousness to be God, do not claim anything to be true of yourself that you would not claim to be true of God, for in defining yourself you are defining God.

“I AM the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside Me”. You, the reader, are the one and only being there is. When you say “I AM,” that means the sum total of all the personalities in the world. All other conceptions are projections in space of the one being, yourself. In the Bible, which is a text book on psychology . . metaphysics and man’s moods and feelings . . the “I AM” is constantly referred to as, “I AM the way, the truth, and the life”. “I AM the Resurrection and the Life”. “I AM That I AM”. These and similar sayings shine forth in all their true brilliance when once we see that Jesus, the Christ, was not speaking of Himself personally, but of the principle of Being inherent in all mankind.

“I AM” comes not to destroy, but to fulfill. “I AM”, the awareness within you, destroys nothing but ever fills full the molds or conception one has of one’s self.  It is impossible for the poor man to find wealth in this world, no matter how he is surrounded with it, until he first claims himself to be wealthy. For signs follow, they do not precede. To constantly kick and complain against the limitations of poverty, while remaining poor in consciousness, is to play the fool’s game. Changes cannot take place from that level of consciousness, for life is constantly out picturing all levels.  Follow the example of the prodigal son. Realize that you, yourself, brought about this condition of waste and lack and make the decision within yourself to rise to a higher level, where the fatted calf, the ring and the robe await your claim.

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” “I AM the Lord: that is my name.” Now that you have discovered your I AM, your consciousness to be God, do not claim anything to be true of yourself that you would not claim to be true of God, for in defining yourself you are defining God. That which you are conscious of being is that which you have named God. God and man are one.

Give soul to every spoken word and you can heal yourself by saying, “I AM Well;” you can emancipate yourself from every adverse condition by saying, “I AM the Freedom of Divine Truth;” and you can cause every atom in your being to thrill with life and power by saying, “I AM the Strength of the Infinite.” Give spirit to every thought you think and every condition you picture in the mind will be realized in the body. Every true desire you feel will be fulfilled, and every dream of greater things will positively come true. What you think you can do you will gain the power to do, because every thought that is filled with the spirit is also filled with the limitless power of the spirit. Give inner power to every statement, and whatever you affirm to be true you will cause to come true. The great word is creative, and if the hidden power of this word is in your statement, it will create whatever your statement may affirm. Therefore, select your statements with wisdom, and pray only for that which you know that you want. When you regain the lost word, all your prayers will be answered and all your desires come true. It is therefore advisable to pray for wisdom first, to desire spirituality first, and to seek first the kingdom of God.

“I AM the Lord thy God, which has brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; thou shalt have not other gods before Me”. What a glorious revelation, your awareness now revealed as the Lord thy God! Come, awake from your dream of being imprisoned. Realize that the earth is yours, “and the fullness thereof; the world and all that dwells therein”.  You have become so enmeshed in the belief that you are man, that you have forgotten the glorious being that you are. Now, with your memory restored, DECREE the unseen to appear  and it SHALL appear, for all things are compelled to respond to the Voice of God, Your awareness of being . . the world is AT YOUR COMMAND!

The most difficult thing for man to really grasp is this: That the “I AMness” in himself is God. It is his true being or father state, the only state he can be sure of. The son, his conception of himself, is an illusion. He always knows that he is, but that which he is, is an illusion created by
himself . . the father . . in an attempt at self definition.

By the right use of thought we never permit ourselves to say that we cannot. On the contrary we continue to believe and say, “I can do whatever I undertake to do and I AM equal to every occasion.” This is our firm conviction when we have come to that place where we really know what is in us, and it is a conviction that is based upon actual scientific fact. Unlimited possibilities are latent in every mind; therefore man is inherently equal to every occasion and he should claim his whole power at all times. If he does not make himself equal to every occasion the cause is that he fails to express all that is in him. But the greater capacity that is within anyone cannot fully express itself so long as thought is created in the likeness of weakness, doubt and limitations. Therefore the right and scientific use of thought becomes the direct channel through which the greatness that is within man may come forth and act in real life.

The Great “I AM.” . . Revealed to Moses as the One and Only Real Mind or Power in the Universe. That beside Which there is no other. I AM is another way of saying God. The “I AM” in man is the Life of man; without this “I AM,” man could not be.

The question arises: What is God? God is man’s consciousness, his awareness, his I AMness. The drama of life is a psychological one in which we bring circumstances to pass by our attitudes rather than by our acts. The cornerstone on which all things are based is mans concept of himself. He acts as he does, and has the experiences that he does, because his concept of himself is what it is, and for no other reason. Had he a different concept of himself, he would act differently and have different experiences. Man, by assuming the feeling of his wish fulfilled, alters his future in harmony with his assumption, for, assumptions though false, if sustained, will harden into fact. The undisciplined mind finds it difficult to assume a state which is denied by the senses. But the ancient teachers discovered that sleep, or a state akin to sleep, aided man in making his assumption.
