The ancients knew that the secret name of God had power. Now we do.
There is nothing greater than Truth; nothing can destroy Truth; no philosophy, dogma nor creed can limit Truth. Perhaps through dogma, philosophy or creeds you have reached this stage; but they were only stepping stones . . or perhaps they were limitations because you thought them the final word. Perhaps you studied occultism and you thought this was the true law; and you thought this was the only way to go. You perhaps have studied Eastern Philosophy, Yoga, etc. They have been stepping stones, but now we have the Truth. The Truth is Infinity, and there is nothing greater. There is nothing but Infinity; what man sees as evil is in his mind or in the mind of others.
There is only one Substance, one Consciousness, one Intelligence, and that is all there is; all forms are created out of these “Three in One” and are expressions . . all united, all in one, and one in all. Therefore, who are you? Who am I? I AM That I AM, I AM the Consciousness, the Intelligence, the Substance. I AM That I AM. I cannot be anything else; it is impossible for me to be more or less. If I try to be, I AM imaging, creating concepts in my mind; what I believe seems true to me, but it may be false. The Infinite Being is all there is, is present everywhere, is all Power there is, all Intelligence there is, all Substance there is. Then I and the Father must be one . . are one. It is a self-evident truth; it speaks for itself and no one can deny it . . but science is not sure.
The Life-principle is always the same. It is always the principle of confident Affirmation in the calm knowledge that all things are but manifestations of itself, and that, therefore, all must move together in one mighty unity which admits of no discordant elements. This “unity of the spirit” once clearly grasped, to say I AM is to send the vibrations of our thought-currents throughout the universe to do our bidding when and where we will; and, conversely, it is to draw in the vitalizing influences of Infinite Spirit as from a boundless ocean of Life, which can never be exhausted and from which no power can hold us back.
And all this is so because it is the supreme law of Nature. It is not the introduction of a new order, but simply the allowing of the original and only possible order to flow on to its legitimate fulfillment. A Divine Order, truly, but nowhere shall we find anything that is not Divine; and it is to the realization of this Divine and Living Order that it is the purpose of the Bible to lead us. But we shall never realize it around us until we first realize it within us. We can see God outside only by the light of God inside; and this light increases in proportion as we become conscious of the Divine nature of the innermost I AM which is the center of our own individuality.
Your unconditioned consciousness, or I AM, and that which you are conscious of being, are one.
Minds centered upon the cares of the world, and busy with the small duties of life, need to be opened by study and contemplation to the grandeur of the great God whose marvelous presence is manifest in all the laws and forms of the universe. Students should seek that instruction which opens the mind to the mighty spirit of life. This is necessary, that the mind may receive new life and the power to manifest life in endless abundance. Says the voice of truth: “I AM come that ye might have life, and have it more abundantly.” The truth reveals the life which was always here but which we did not recognize. And our recognition opens up our mind to receive of its blessing. Recognition grows into faith, and faith builds up the mental forces that polarize life.
The answer to every question is within man, because man is within Spirit, and Spirit is an Indivisible Whole! The solution to every problem is within man; the healing of all disease is within man; the forgiveness of all sin is within man; the raising of the dead is within man; Heaven is within man. This is why Jesus prayed to this indwelling “I AM” and said: “Our Father which art in Heaven,” and again he said: “The Kingdom of Heaven is within you.”
There are two degrees of this consciousness, the first of which we will term the realization of the “I”, a consciousness of “I” AM . . a something which causes one to know he lives and has his being, independent of the physical body, a state in which all doubts of man’s immortality are at once swept away, and he feels himself lifted up and away from this material plane to a life of sunshine and joy.
The second decree is the consciousness of, All life is One life and “I” AM that life, the “I” AM consciousness, which causes the pupil to recognize his oneness with the Universal Whole. “I” AM the highest manifestation of God’s expression.
This awakening is the consciousness that, among all the worlds . . suns and planets known and unknown to civilized man, “I” AM the highest expression thereof. The unfolding of this “I” AM life will enable the student to become Master and to solve the great secrets of the External Universe.
Man’s consciousness is God, his I AM. I AM conscious of the state. I AM the father-mother of all my ideas and my mind remains faithful to this new concept of self. My mind is disciplined. I take into that state the disciples, and I shut out of that state everything that would deny it.
Neville Goddard interprets “Jehovah”
The first thing you must discover if you would unlock the secret of the Bible, is the meaning of the symbolic name of the creator which is known to all as Jehovah. This word “Jehovah” is composed of the four Hebrew letters – JOD HE VAU HE. The whole secret of creation is concealed within this name.
The first letter, JOD, represents the absolute state or consciousness unconditioned; the sense of undefined awareness; that all inclusiveness out of which all creation or conditioned states of consciousness come.
In the terminology of today JOD is I AM, or unconditioned consciousness.
The second letter, HE, represents the only begotten Son, a desire, an imaginary state. It symbolizes an idea; a defined subjective state or clarified mental picture.
The third letter, VAU, symbolizes the act of unifying or joining the conceiver (JOD), the consciousness desiring to the conception (HE), the state desired, so that the conceiver and the conception become one.
Fixing a mental state, consciously defining yourself as the state desired, impressing upon yourself the fact that you are now that which you imagined or conceived as your objective, is the function of VAU. It nails or joins the consciousness desiring to the thing desired. The cementing or joining process is accomplished subjectively by feeling the reality of that which is not yet objectified.
The fourth letter, HE, represents the objectifying of this subjective agreement. The JOD HE VAU makes man or the manifested world (HE), in the image and likeness of itself, the subjective conscious state. So the function of the final HE is to objectively bear witness to the subjective state JOD HE VAU.
Conditioned consciousness continually objectifies itself on the screen of space. The world is the image and likeness of the subjective conscious state which created it.
The visible world of itself can do nothing; it only bears record of its creator, the subjective state. It is the visible Son (HE) bearing witness of the invisible Father, Son and Mother . . JOD HE VAU . . a Holy Trinity which can only be seen when made visible as man or manifestation.
Your unconditioned consciousness (JOD) is your I AM which visualizes or imagines a desirable state (HE), and then becomes conscious of being that state imagined by feeling and believing itself to be the imagined state. The conscious union between you who desire and that which you desire to be, is made possible through the VAU, or your capacity to feel and believe.
Believing is simply living in the feeling of actually being the state imagined . . by assuming the consciousness of being the state desired. The subjective state symbolized as JOD HE VAU then objectifies itself as HE, thereby completing the mystery of the creator’s name and nature, JOD HE VAU HE (Jehovah).
JOD is to be aware; HE is to be aware of something; VAU is to be aware as, or to be aware of being that which you were only aware of. The second HE is your visible objectified world which is made in the image and likeness of the JOD HE VAU, or that which you are aware of being.
“And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness”. Let us, JOD HE VAU make the objective manifestation (HE) in our image, the image of the subjective state.
The world is the objectified likeness of the subjective conscious state in which consciousness abides. This understanding that consciousness is the one and only reality is the foundation of the Bible.
The stories of the Bible are attempts to reveal in symbolic language the secret of creation as well as to show man the one formula to escape from all of his own creations.
This is the true meaning of the name of Jehovah, the name by which all things are made and without which there is nothing made that is made.
First, you are aware; then you become aware of something; then you become aware as that which you were aware of; then you behold objectively that which you are aware of being.
We let go of everything, drop every fear from our minds, drop all confusion from our thought, and enter into the inner secret communion with that great Reality, which is our Universal Self . . God . . in Whom we live and move and have our being. We are conscious that this Divine Presence overshadows and indwells. It is both without this physical, mental being and within this physical, mental being. Therefore, It is the spiritual Reality of this being, the I AM, which is Universal, Eternal, and Perfect.
